Collaboration and Community: Dataverse at cvs,conf,v7

The cvs,conf,v7 conference held in Buenos Aires, Argentina on April 17-20 saw the participation of The Dataverse Project team, the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), Datacite, and Borealis Dataverse Consortium. This was a significant moment as it marked the first time the conference was held in the Southern Hemisphere with the aim of encouraging greater involvement of the Latin American community, given the region's strong open movement. Previously, the event took place in Berlin, Portland, and online.

Local Artisans: Thank you again to @Marisa Miodosky (Organizer) and Vera Kors for coordinating with local Argentinian artisans from the Puna region of Catamarca province, Argentina, to make our llamas!

During the conference, The Dataverse community and Datacite hosted a full-day collaborative workshop on various topics, including curating data in a Dataverse-supported repository (The Dataverse Project), Dataverse (y Los PIDs), sharing and improving research data with DataCite, CIMMYT Proyecto Dataverse, and analyzing and reusing data in a repository using Data Explorer 2.0 (Borealis).

csv,conf is a community event that brings together datamakers from all over the world to discuss open data and its applications in open source, journalism, science, government, and other domains. Attendees from diverse backgrounds came together to exchange ideas, learn about ongoing work, share skills, and initiate collaborations. The remainder of the week was devoted to parallel events showcasing open data and open scholarship initiatives, communities, and projects.

Attached are collaborative presentations and photographs from the event. The community is invited to join The Dataverse Project team at the following upcoming events: IASSIST 2023 from May 20 to June 2, the Dataverse Community Meeting 2023 in Braga, Portugal from June 5-7, and the Open Repositories Conference in South Africa from June 12-16. The team will present on various topics, including Indigenous Data Support, curation workshops, Dataverse Re-arch, Modularity in Dataverse, and Curating Big Data in the Harvard Dataverse.
